The Hobbit Passes 500 Million

Less than three weeks after its release in over 4,000 theaters worldwide, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is still at the top of the charts. It set the record for highest opening weekend gross in December, and has already topped $500,000,000 and is still going strong. According to Box Office Mojo, it has, as of January 1, 2013, made $228,693,000 in the US and a total of $692,693,000 worldwide. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is, and probably will be for several more weeks, the #1 movie in the world!
