The Hobbit Passes One Billion!
Monday, March 04, 2013
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as of yesterday, has become the 15th highest grossing movie of all time! According to BoxOfficeMojo, the official number as of now is $1,001,402,746. No matter what the critics say, Peter Jackson knows how to make a movie people want to watch. The top markets are: the US, of course, at $301.4 million; Germany at $92.6 million; the United Kingdom at $82.2 million; Australia at $44 million; and Russia at $44 million. Though it did not make the top five, China, right now at $37.3 million, needs an honorable mention. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, though only in theaters there for ten days, has already made a big impact, allowing it to pass the one billion mark. It is almost as big a hit as The Return of the King (just off by $118 million). Let's hope The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is just as big of a hit, if not more!
