Another week has come and gone

without a single post from yours truly. Sorry about that. There has not really been much activity from my end at all for the past few weeks. I'll try to work up something interesting soon, but for now, you will have to content yourself with an overview of this past week's events.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short (Monday, February 1)

For those nerdy Tolkienists like myself, here is something that may interest you greatly. Here is a complete compilation of all the material concerning the Dagor Dagorath, the battle of all battles, aka The Last Battle of Arda from A Tolkienist's Perspective.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey won an Annie Award! Jeff Capogreco, Jedrzej Wojtowicz, Kevin Estey, Alessandro Bonora, and Gino Acevedo received the 'Character Animation in a Live Action Production' award for their work on Gollum at the 41st annual Annie Awards.

Sunday:

The Weta Workshop unveiled The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug : Smaug: Unleashing The Dragon, a behind-the-scenes book about all the work and effort behind the greatest CGI character of all time! It is available for pre-order for $19.99.

Thursday:

TheOneRing.net posted an interview with Steven Umbrello, the creator of an astounding illuminated manuscript of The Lay of the Children of Hurin. They talk about his inspiration, the work itself, and if he plans to do anything else like this. Read the interview and see pictures of this beautifully illustrated masterpiece at TheOneRing.net.

Finally, to conclude this post, here is an interview with Dean O'Gorman and Aidan Turner way back at the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug from Middle-earth News, which was only uploaded today.
