There's A Storm Brewing!

Here is the first poster for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! It doesn't even give the movie's title, but it is easy to figure out. There is a head-on glimpse of the dragon Smaug. Only, there is no way a single picture of Smaug would be released this early, and probably ever. We did not even get to see his entire body in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. So, this poster has to be fan made. In fact, a certain David Chalmers (you can see his comment below) claimed this poster as his own. It is a pretty nice piece of fan art, I must admit. I would also like to assure you that since I did not create this poster, I had nothing to do with the "Search 'There's a Storm Brewing'" bit. It just happens to be a coincidence that this blog happens to be the #1 result when you actually search 'there's a storm brewing.' I hope you enjoy the poster!

  1. It's a fan-made for sure...because it's mine!

  2. This is just made to get pagehits on your blog. The poster says "Search 'There's a Storm Brewing.' When you do that, the only thing Hobbit related that comes up is your blog. Then you go on to describe how it's a real poster. You very clearly made this and are trying to pass it off as real. For shame.

  3. If you read the entire post, you would have noticed that I admitted there was a strong possibility it was fan-made. Also, if you had happened to look at the previous comments, you would have noticed that David Chalmers, whom, I assure you, I have never met, seen, or hear of in my entire life, claims responsibility for creating this poster. Thirdly, this poster has been spread all throughout the web, so this is not the only website that features it. Finally, its working, isn't it?

  4. If this is really Smaug, then I'm disappointed in both his design and their decision to reveal what he looks like in a poster.

Hopefully this is just a bad fan-made poster using a Dragon from Reign of Fire like someone did for the fake Hobbit trailer back in 2006.

  5. Wings are too small, there would not be enough lift generated- the larger the flyer, the bigger (proportionally) the wings have to be. Jackson, coming from the land of Haast's Eagle, knows better- cf the Fell Beast in ROTK. Just make it so it looks plausible that the wings are doing something, or no wings at all like Falkor...

  8. the dragon on the poster is cut from a fan made picture you can find on deviantart.com. Has nothing to do with original Smaug concept from WB.

  10. Yes, but LotR was filmed BEFORE The Hobbit
