What has been happening in the world of Tolkien fandom!

I have decided to make this type of post a weekly series, in order to cover all the little things that do not justify a post of their own or that I simply do not have time to write about. Only five more days until we get to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! And lost has been happening in anticipation of this event. 

So hard to keep up! Things are crazy just 10 days before the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smuag!

Tons and tons of stuff has happened and most assuredly is happening right now in the world of Tolkien and Peter Jackson fandom! Perhaps most exciting of all was the world premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in Hollywood last night! Many of the cast and crew were able to attend (full list beyond the break), and I am sure it would have been amazing to attend, but it was also cool to watch it live on YouTube (or Facebook, as the case may be), like I did. The World Premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is set to be held in the United States

Nothing is yet known concerning the time or date, but at least we know the location: LA, CA, USA. 

Will The Desolation of Smaug premiere in Russia?

Earlier this month we discovered that the contract between Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema required only one of the Hobbit movies to have its premiere in New Zealand. It now seems that the world premiere of The Desolation of Smaug will be held in Moscow, Russia. 

Another premiere for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was held today in Japan. Below are links to a five-part video of the press conference, which was recorded by RACentral.

The premiere went great! Wellington had some pretty cool decorations set up, even adding a few hobbit holes. Peter Jackson gave a speech and introduced the actors. Beyond the break, you can watch several videos of the premiere if you were one of the ones (including me) who were not able to watch is live.
