A recap of this past week's events

Fan art, awesome stuff from Weta, movie awards, and art from the upcoming Lego The Hobbit video game have all been seen and discussed in the world of Tolkien fandom. If you have been wondering why I use the phrase 'world of Tolkien fandom' so much, it is because the works of J.R.R. Tolkien have on the largest fan bases in the world, with members spanning across continents. See what these thousands, and very possibly millions of people have been up to in the past week!

A peek into what was revealed at Comic Con

The Weta Workshop booth at the San Diego Comic Con 2013, along with a few others, more than filled up The Hobbit void caused by Peter Jackson unfortunately being too busy to attend this year. Their displays not only showed life-size statues and meticulously detailed environments, but also many new fine pieces of merchandise.  

The Dwarves, the White Council, Wizards, Trolls, and more!

The other day I came across a slough of new videos on a Japanese website. They are the most interesting videos I have seen since the last official trailer, so be sure to watch at least a few of them. These videos contain exclusive behind-the-scenes info and interviews, so they are well worth the watch, even though they do have Japanese subtitles. 

Now here is an little interesting video about the special effects for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. It must be admitted that the movie's special effects were fantastic. This is about all the hard work put into creating amazing works of art like this. One of the examples from the video are the three trolls: Bert, Tom, and William. They are completely CGI, but three actors and motion-capture was used. The other subjects the video addressed were Gollum and the goblins, but you don't need me to tell you about it! This Japanese trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey contains at least 20 seconds of new footage, including the troll scene, in the goblin caves, Gollum's lair, and much more. The only downside is the Japanese subtitles

Here is TV Spot #5 for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! There are many new scenes, including trolls, goblins, wargs, Galadriel, and huge stone giants. Enjoy!

What follows are some awesome new pictures for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. They mainly feature goblins, wargs, and Radagast. There is also a picture of the trolls, and a few dwarves. (A few are scans, so they might be a little blurry) However, they contain major spoilers, so beware! Also, some the pictures may be a little creepy, so I wouldn't recommend showing them to small children.

Here is the second TV Spot on the Warner Bros. Youtube channel. The only new scene of note is of Bilbo and the Trolls, and we hear one of the trolls speak, which is actually pretty surprising, as the most we expect to hear from one of those beasts is a grunt or a roar.
This also was the first one I saw on the TV. I'm telling you, this looks a lot better on a bigger screen.

Here is the first picture of Tom, Bert and William, the three trolls who are turned to stone in The Hobbit. These are life-sized models built by the Weta Workshop especially for the San Diego Comic Con.
